Micro Health Initiative was found in 2013 as a non-governmental organization NGO in Tanzania to address the gap that existed
in health care delivery for insured clients. The first area of address was health micro insurance, where the NGO sought to ensure low and middle
level income earners have equal access to health care service through affordable insurance services. Over 100000 individuals have been serviced by MHI so far.
Later, MHI started to develop and implement health medical records systems to digitize medical records.
To date, MHI has assisted over 100 medical facilities computerize their services, and had has partnered with organizations such as Banks,
NHIF, Selcom, MOH to ensure that the medical records system seamlessly integrates with all essential services.
The Headquarters of MHI are in Shanty Town, Moshi. MHI is owned by Tanzanians, and administered by local management which is
overseen by a credible board of governors.
The NGO is recognized and accredited by relevant regulators such as TRA, TIRA, Municipal council, Ministry of Health among others.
